One Foot, Two Foot, Straight Foot, New Foot

Friday is Daddy Day Care and this Friday was also known as Feet Day! Both our youngest with their unusual feet had to see their MD's for a tune up, and typically it was a whirlwind of action, getting in and out of carseats and strollers and wrangling one or both depending on location.

First up, Lilah had to visit Dr. Jim, her prosthetist. Lilah and Luke are well known there and for some bizarre reason tend to be at their naughty/cutest when they visit. They feel free to wander in and out of offices, open and dig through drawers, and run up and down the hallway. Sadly, they are encouraged by the constant laughter from the hospital staff who find them hilarious. Yuck, yuck.

Lilah's feet work more like a two part boot than anything. She wears a sock, then a specially molded liner, then another sock, then the prosthehetic foot. She currently has a hole wearing out in one liner and her feet needed securing. All the folks at the office know her name and her picture is hung on the wall. They asked me today to bring her in later for a photo shoot. She was a trooper, very patient. Luke responded by pooping (I left the diaper bag in the van).

After a quick clean up in the car (my least favorite place to change a diaper) it was on to physical therapy for Luke. Luke's club foot care is down to wearing a brace a night, but still has weekly PT with Ms. Kim for his coordination issues. Lilah gets the added bonus of free play in the PT room, and tries to show up Luke when he is un-enthused.

Today Luke walked the treadmill.

Practiced climbing the stairs.

Practiced his jumps on the trampoline.

Worked on his balance.

They got to run up and down the hallway with permission!

And finally did core muscle strengthening on the medicine ball.

Lilah responded by pooping (I didn't forget the diaper bag this time).

Clearly, Luke finds PT to be torture.

We are grateful for the hard work and superior care that our medical team provides for our kids. The best part is, they are so good, Luke and Lilah don't realize that going to the doctor isn't supposed to be fun.
