We got a little glimpse into Luke's life in China. Our agency was able to receive an update. He lives with a foster mother and her two adult sons, who are married, so I guess she's more like a foster grandmother. They say that his mental development is "very good," he can understand adult facial expressions and "when his name was called he has response by smile." They say that he is "active and cute." It's a very strange feeling to have someone else telling you about your child and especially taking care of your child. No, strange is not the right word. Painful? The longing (there's the word) is awful. They also sent a picture. They've shaved off his fabulous head of hair, and he looks so sad it's hard for Anne to look at it.
The good news is that we got our PA (pre-approval from the People's Republic) which means that we should get approval to fly three months after September 25. Merry Christmas! Then we'll be given the privilege of paying full price for tickets to China within about 2 weeks. So our current estimated lift off is January 5.
At home, our dear friends are prepping a shower for us. It's interesting trying to register when you haven't a clue how big your child is going to be, or what he will be able to do when we get him. Our shower won't be an all girl tea party, with doilies and baby food tasting. It will be a co-ed celebration with lots of Tsing Tao and potstickers. We're so lucky to have such good friends!

His hair will grow and your love will grow!
Oh gosh he is a cutie pie! Our little one also had the head shaved thing going on.
I wish you a speedy path to your new little boy.
We are anxiously awaiting the next list.

He is still adorable. Look at that pout. awwww.
Mmmmm, potstickers.
Oh, Anne! His little head of hair will grow back. He does look a little sad...he wants his momma as much as you want him. Hang in there!
Longing is a good word for it. I think this has to be the hardest part of the wait!
The hair grows...and he will have that wonderful lush head of hair back in no time.
