Cake shaped like the Forbidden City. It says "Baby!"
Thanks Joye, Carol, Shanin and Amy for everything!
One of a kind "Love" quilt, made by Paula! Perhaps the pictures give it away, but our friends held the best baby shower ever for Luke (and us). Becuase of our "advanced" age, we asked that there not be any games, just our loved ones celebrating and having a good time. Our friend Joye was kind enough to volunteer her house, which was a cool set up, food and drink upstairs, ping pong and swings downstairs and outside for the youngins, and the weather cooperated nicely, so the patio was used as well. The hors deouvres included eggrolls, potstickers, chicken wings, thai pasta, mai tais (getting the theme here?) all served with chop sticks (optional).
Our version of the "red couch" picture with California family!
Our version of the "red couch" picture with California family! Our California family (11 in all) came in for the festivities and they were here for our 16th anniversary which took place the day before (which we almost forgot due to all the shower preparations).
Everyone was so generous! Even though we've been through this twice before, it's been about 10 years sonce we've needed highchairs, strollers and baby clothes, so we're basically starting over again. We appreciate everyone's generosity. It was so nice to feel the support we have of our friends and we are comforted to know that Luke is coming to a home where so many family and friends will be waiting to welcome him and love him.
Our friend Tom Sapp made this for Luke! He designed the unique and adorable alphabet, and has several different themes and versions of each letter! It's personalized art from his company Baby Cees (get it?) Very cute. Check his website at http://www.babycees.net
